READ READ READ! Read at least the first two chapters of Of Mice and Men this weekend so that you don’t have to rush through it Monday night.
Today we learned the setting: Soledad, California in the 1930s. The Great Depression is the time period for this story. We’ll cover more about that on Wednesday next week.
We also learned that George is sharp, short, and pretty mean to his pal Lennie. Lennie’s a big, dumb guy who doesn’t have a good memory. They’re near a ranch that the bus driver was too lazy to drive them all the way up to, so instead they have to hike a few extra miles. We also learned that Lennie loves rabbits and keeps a dead mouse in his pocket (eww!).
