1st hour–The Scary Headliners posters were great! Good job on those. Remember, the next 1984 quiz is Tuesday over chapter IV-VII. If you’re having questions, go ahead and comment on here or shoot me an email and I will gladly help you out!
Today in class we read (and listened to) a very famous short story called, “The Veldt.” We identified the satire’s purpose and the traits of a dystopia. Here’s a link to the reading.
Honors: We’ve been watching They Spoke Out: American Voices Against the Holocaust. The new assignment due on the 20th is called “LONIP.” Students are to write a 2-3 page memoir double-spaced with an MLA heading about a list of something in their life. Songs, quotes, movies, shoes, video games, girl/boyfriends, pals, pets, vacations, etc. The focus should be on YOU, not the list. The list is just a way to show how you’ve evolved or kept a consistency through your lives. If you’re funny, keep it light, if you’re more on the serious side, let the tone reflect that too. There’s a lot of creative freedom in the format here. We’ll have a little time to write in the writing center towards the end of the next week, but we’ll also be *editing/proofreading so that’ll be important too.
*Soon we’ll be working in teams to revise the short stories from my creative writing class.
Thank you to everyone who made it to conferences last night!
