How to write your 40-line poem

Find something you’re passionate about when you select your poem’s “matter.”  I included a rubric on IC but here it is again…

15-14 points–Poem shows rich use of language and poetic devices we’ve covered. It stays in free verse or passes as spoken word. Lots of imagery and language go into the finished product. An effort is made to create some sort of substance and sound or feel.

13-12 points—Poem is a bit “thin” as far as imagery and word choice. Devices are minimal or forced. Language is plain or too much like regular prose.

11-0 points—Poem feels forced or last minute. Little to no devices–Language is dull and no images are used.
