OK Honors–here’s the plan for the rest of the week. We’ll read “The Apple Tree” from the blue text book or you can get it ahead of time here: http://www.montpelier.k12.oh.us/userfiles/551/Classes/2473/English%209%20Makeup%202.pdf
We’ll look for examples of direct and indirect characterization.
We’ll also review allusions. Remember, those are a reference to a famous work of art, person, etc.
We’ll also talk about cliches and how to eliminate them in our writing. Here’s an example of a movie cliche:
We’ll also review some of that vocab (PACKETS DUE MONDAY!)
The major thing is that we have our first writing assignment. After reading The Apple Tree, I want you to think of your “Apple Moment” in life. I have a handout that explains it. I can send it to you if you’re not going to be here, or stop by and get one. That’ll be due next Thursday the 27th.
We’ll also get copies of “Lather and Nothing Else” to read over the weekend. It’s a very short story and you’ll have a very short quiz over it on Monday. If you’re absent, you can read it here: http://www.plymouth.k12.wi.us/OldSite/Staff%20Home%20Pages/High%20School/HS%20English/Cleary1/oldengI/lather.pdf
